Songs from assorted Guest movies as well as some new stuff and a cover or two from what I understand. Hopefully they will be coming through my town on the tour.

From the New York Metro Intelligencer: February 14–21, 2005

Waiting For Oscar: Christopher Guest’s latest ensemble satire.

"As this year’s Oscar-campaign season winds down, sources say Christopher Guest has set his sights on the whole high-stakes scramble for nominations as the subject for his next film. Of course, unlike with the dog fetishists in Best in Show and the expired idealist folksingers in A Mighty Wind, this one might hit closer to home, since he’s never been able to score an Academy Award for his acting or directing. The working title: For Your Consideration. (Guest’s reps didn’t return a message".

Hey, Wha' Happened? [01 Jan 2002|01:35am]

I created a community devoted to A Mighty Wind. It's called ode_to_irving. Once you join, please give me suggestions about how it should look and about what should appear on the info page.

One More Time... [01 Jan 2002|12:51am]

Does anybody know where I can find the album covers from A Mighty Wind in a downloadable form? I want to make icons and/or colorbars from the album covers, but they don't seem to be available anywhere. Thanks, guys.

de-lurking [04 Aug 2004|11:10am]

[ mood | groovy ]

Hi! I've been lurking here for quite sometome, so thought I'd come out of hiding. I've been a Chris Guest fan since he was on SNL(1984-1986?). My favorite sketch from that time is the synchronized swimming one with Marty Short and Harry Shearer as the swimmers and Guest as the instructor. I was also a huge SCTV fan way back when, and I love Eugene Levy. :) 'Best In Show' is my favorite Guest movie--but it seems unfair to have to pick...oh well.

Also, I have some 'A Mighty Wind' and 'This Is Spinal Tap' icons over at my journal if you want to have a look.

A Guffman Moment [30 Jul 2004|08:15pm]

I sang at one of the big functions for the Democratic National Convention last night, and it had intense security. Almost as soon as we unboarded the buses someone pointed out that there were snipers on the roofs of all the surrounding buildings. After I recovered from my mortal terror, I giggled a little thinking about the very first scene in Guffman.

"I need men on the roof with guns here...and here."

I mean, the DNC is no susquescentennial or anything, but...

i just watched Waiting for Guffman last night with the commentary on..and it was sooo funny. Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy were the commentators b/c the wrote the script..which is kinda funny considerng almost all of it was inprovisation. I hope that another cg movie is coming out very soon...b/c they rock my socks off

Are there any Mitch and Mickey icons floating around out there?
Perhaps I could pilfer one?

I say to you, chris_guest community, "Hey! Wha' Happened?" [27 Jul 2004|04:35pm]

So I found this other Christopher Guest community before I found this one. [Now that I've found this one, I feel like I've cheated on you all.] The surprising thing about the other community was that it had only two members, and worse than that, NO POSTS! So I thought I'd jump-start the community by posting and telling my friends about it. It didn't quite work out that way.

Anyway, here's the link to the floundering community:

And here's my first and only entry in said floundering community. I tried my hand at a Guest-style improvisational monologue. Not sure how well that turned out because there were no members to comment on it...Collapse )

That is all.
Goodnight, Lovelies.
